Food origins As we continue to explore food origins, we know that wheat is a staple of many countries. In some countries, bread is served with every meal. Cereals, beans, dairy products, grains and bananas are included in the staple foods family. Wheat grows in the fields and winds up on the table as cakes, breads, muffins and cookies.
