Food origins Let us take a closer look at food origins. There are many foods such as rice, potatoes, corn and wheat (in the form of breads, cakes, pies), which are used as staple foods in different countries. These foods are generally economical and readily available. There are other staples which will be discussed later. Rice is a staple food of many countries. It can be served hot or cold.
